Bring new life to your Sun SPARC Servers with CHARON-SSP

Stromasys helps customers swap out aging SPARC-based hardware for a new virtualized environment to lower operating costs, and reduce risks – all at once, and in a matter of days.

Stromasys today launches CHARON-SSP, a seamless solution for virtualizing classic Sun SPARC hardware.

CHARON-SSP brings new life to the classic Sun SPARC systems under a virtualized environment on industry standard x86 computer systems. CHARON-SSP swaps out the end-of-life (EOL) hardware and moves the entire software stack to the new virtualized environment in a matter of days.

“For over 15 years, Stromasys has been keeping thousands of factories, businesses, and governments running when innovation has made their hardware obsolete. We have been delivering continuity to businesses by virtualizing their classic hardware,” said John Prot, CEO of Stromasys. “Today, we proudly present to our clients CHARON-SSP, which will change the game for mission-critical applications and will enable them to continue running long into the future.”

CHARON-SSP allows Sun Solaris applications that ran on SPARC systems to remain working with no change. As a member of the Oracle Partner Network, Stromasys makes it easier for customers to move to CHARON-SSP on an Oracle x86 server.

CHARON-SSP offers different versions, designed for 32-bit and 64-bit machines, from 1-24 CPUs. CHARON-SSP is available for Linux, and VMware. For more details about CHARON-SSP, please visit www.stromasys.com/Charon-ssp.

The launch of CHARON-SSP extends Stromasys virtualization offerings from VAX, Alpha, HP 3000, and PDP-11 to SPARC hardware, increasing their market presence and reinforcing their position as the global leader in classic system virtualization.
