Stromasys and Stefanini Group Join Forces to Redefine Innovation in Legacy Server Transformation

Stromasys, a global leader in legacy hardware emulation, has recently collaborated with Stefanini Group to facilitate significant transformation in legacy systems.

Together, they achieved remarkable results in a complex legacy server consolidation project for a European multisector enterprise. This initiative addressed long-standing technology dependence, modernized essential infrastructure, and supported business continuity.

Project Background

The project addressed a massive challenge for a European multisector giant in aerospace, defence, and security. They had multiple legacy servers spread across different parts of Italy.

These intricate landscapes of outdated servers included: SPARC, PA-RISC, and Alpha.

The goal? To consolidate and virtualize these systems into a singular, efficient virtual data center powered by VMware and Stromasys Charon solutions.

Transforming the Legacy Landscape

The project began by analyzing the legacy environment intricately. Using custom scripts and close collaboration with the client, the teams identified data and performance bottlenecks. Guided by this groundwork, the transition to a single virtual Linux-based infrastructure on VMware was set into motion.

Stromasys navigated multiple challenges – from inconsistent configurations to licensing hurdles with agility. Standard operating system tools ensured data integrity during migration, while innovative third-party solutions addressed unforeseen complexities. Throughout, downtime was managed meticulously to avoid disruptions.

By the project’s end, a complete transformation was achieved. Outdated, unreliable servers have been replaced by advanced virtual machines. It enabled easier management with remote-access solutions and standardized tools for routine tasks, such as backups and updates.

Here are some of the key outcomes:

  • Enhanced performance: With optimized resources and updated hardware, critical operations now run faster and more efficiently.
  • Simplified management: Standardized systems eliminated complexity, reducing resource-intensive processes and risks tied to legacy maintenance.
  • Customer satisfaction: The seamless transition and robust system reliability earned high praise from the client.

The customer highlighted the significance of the shift: with business continuity fortified and disaster recovery integrated, their organization is well-positioned for growth.

Why settle for limitations when the solution is already within reach?
